An update to Claude has been released that solves the problem of AI explanations being full of text and difficult to understand, generating interactive diagrams during conversations to make them easier to understand.

The chat AI Claude now has a new feature that allows it to generate interactive diagrams during conversations. Users can ask Claude to create things like the periodic table of elements, making it easier to understand things that are difficult to grasp from text explanations alone.

The interactive drawing feature is available to free plan users, so I'll try it out. First, I asked Claude to show me the periodic table.

After saying, 'I'll make a periodic table!', they created one in about two minutes. It includes atomic numbers and element symbols, and is color-coded by type. Nihonium, which was recognized as a new element in 2015, is also clearly listed.

This periodic table isn't just an illustration; you can hover your mouse over it to see its atomic weight. Furthermore, clicking on each element will have Claude explain the details. I've recorded a video demonstrating its operation.

You can also download the diagram in HTML format by clicking 'Download file' in the menu at the top right.

You can download it by clicking 'Download'.

Open the downloaded HTML file.

I was able to display the same diagram that Claude displayed in the chat.

While Claude automatically determines when to create diagrams, you can also explicitly instruct it to do so by saying things like, 'Draw XX as a diagram,' or 'Visualize XX.'
