According to a report from DigiTimes, Taiwanese semiconductor company Phison has begun supplying products directly to cloud service providers and AI hyperscalers, with its revenue share for enterprise SSD solutions approaching 30%.
Phison is pushing customers to shorten payment terms, and some are even asking for upfront payment, as its suppliers are doing the same. The move signals Phison's shift to the more lucrative enterprise market, where deep-pocketed AI companies are willing to pay more to ensure they get the memory and storage chips they need to run their data centers.
To address the uncertainty caused by skyrocketing memory and storage costs, Phison has signed long-term contracts with six NAND flash memory manufacturers and two DRAM suppliers around the world. Phison CEO Pua said the contracts were primarily signed to ensure sufficient supply, suggesting that cost is not a top priority. Phison also explained that it has negotiated prepaid purchases of NAND chips with some suppliers, ensuring priority access to these resources in the event of a shortage.

This has increased Phison's inventory from about $1.12 billion (about 178 billion yen) to about $1.57 billion (about 250 billion yen) in a few months, but supply still faces challenges, and CEO Poa said, 'We are concerned about a shortage of both funds and inventory.'
Despite the price increases, Phison says demand from cloud and enterprise customers continues to grow, resulting in increased revenue. Phison also continues to develop next-generation technologies, including PCIe 6.0 sampling by August 2026 and ongoing efforts to support PCIe 7.0.
