The Studio Display features a 5K Retina display with a screen size of 27 inches and a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels. It can also charge your MacBook through the display, outputting up to 96W of power using the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable, enough to fast-charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro.

The Studio Display XDR has the same pixel count, pixel density, camera, and audio capabilities as the Studio Display, but features a mini-LED backlight for up to 1000 nits of SDR brightness, 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness, a wider color gamut, and a 120Hz refresh rate for improved responsiveness to moving content.

The Mini LED backlight has 2304 dimming zones for extremely precise lighting, resulting in deeper blacks and brighter whites. It also reduces the halo/blooming effect that occurs when a bright, white subject appears dimly lit against a dark background.

The Studio Display XDR supports both

The back of the Studio Display XDR looks like this, with two Thunderbolt 5 ports and two USB-C ports. The Studio Display XDR can also function as a Thunderbolt hub, providing up to 140W of charging power with the included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable, enough to fast charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Additionally, Studio Display and Studio Display XDR are designed with the environment in mind, and both are made with recycled materials, including 100% recycled aluminum for the stand and 80% recycled glass for the standard glass option. Studio Display and Studio Display XDR are designed to be durable and repairable, meeting Apple's high standards for energy efficiency and safe chemistry while offering industry-leading software support. Additionally, the paper packaging is made from 100% fiber and features a foldable design for easy recycling.
'Apple leads the industry in delivering the world's most advanced displays that enable pro-level users to do the best work of their lives, and today we're doing that again with the introduction of the new Studio Display family,' said John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. 'We've made the Studio Display even better, and now Studio Display XDR is a major leap forward in XDR technology that will transform workflows like filmmaking, design, print, 3D animation and more. These are simply the world's best pro displays.'
Pre-orders for the new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR will begin on March 4, 2026, with deliveries and in-store sales beginning on March 11. The Studio Display will be priced at ¥269,800 (tax included), and the Studio Display XDR will be priced at ¥549,800 (tax included).
