The new law on advertising is divided into five chapters and is aimed at protecting users' rights, particularly from advertising on social media and other online services.
One of the features is that it now requires video ads and animated ads inserted into videos to be skippable up to five seconds after they are displayed.
While non-skippable video ads exist on YouTube and Instagram, these types of ads will no longer be permitted once the law comes into effect.

It will also be mandatory to provide clearly visible icons to report illegal content and to filter out certain types of ads.
In addition, if requested by the government, advertising platforms, content providers, and publishers will be responsible for removing illegal or harmful advertisements within 24 hours.
If the law is not followed, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam can block the communication and take further legal action.
The law will come into effect on February 15, 2026.
