Bluesky adds the ability to read contacts and find friends

Bluesky version 1.112 was released on December 17, 2025. A new feature called 'Find Friends' was added, allowing users to upload their contacts to find people they know who also use Bluesky.

We're launching Find Friends, a contact import feature that helps you find people you know on Bluesky.
Try it! In the mobile app, go to Settings → Find friends from contacts.

'Find My Friends' is available on the Bluesky mobile app in Japan, South Korea, the US, the UK, Italy, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Brazil, and France. To use 'Find My Friends,' first update the Bluesky app to the latest version, then tap Settings.

Tap 'Find friends in your contacts.'

Tap 'Import Contacts.'

You will then be asked to verify your phone number.

Once you've successfully authenticated with your phone number, you'll be shown a list of your contacts who have enabled Find Friends on Bluesky. You'll also receive a notification if any of your contacts join Bluesky.

Find My Friends is designed with privacy in mind, and contact information is stored in hashed form. For technical details about contact uploading, please see the link below.
