Many retailers in Japan hold sales on Black Friday , a massive sale held every November the day after Thanksgiving . The same is true in Europe.
The Game Business conducted a survey to find out which consoles and games were selling well in Europe during Black Friday sales. The data for the survey was provided by GSD , which tracks digital and physical game sales, and by market research firm NielsenIQ , which provided data on UK Black Friday hardware sales.
In the UK, console sales on Black Friday 2025 were up 14% year-on-year, with unit sales up 7%. While Nintendo Switch 2 sales were 'reasonable,' the PS5 was the best-selling console.

In Europe, PS5 sales increased 16% year-over-year on Black Friday, making it the only console to see year-over-year sales growth, capturing 62% of console sales on Black Friday.
The price of the 1TB PS5 Slim model is now 21% cheaper than it was two weeks ago. The digital version of the PS5 Slim is now 34% cheaper than it was two weeks ago. The price of the PS5 Pro has also dropped to an all-time low of £586 (approximately 120,000 yen).
The Xbox Series S/X accounted for 23% of console sales during Black Friday, while the Nintendo Switch accounted for 5%.
Accessory sales were down 17% compared to Black Friday 2024, driven by sharp declines in controller sales (down 27%) and gaming headset sales (down 28%).
In addition, VR headset sales also fell 7% year-over-year.
