'Google's Year in Search' shows what Japanese people will be searching for in 2025, including anime and movie trends

Google has released the 2025 edition of its annual search trends summary page, ' Google's Year in Search .' Regional search trends are also published, allowing users to see what topics are being searched for in Japan.

By the way, the ranking of rising words for 2024 is as follows: 1st place 'Dodgers,' 2nd place 'Olympics,' 3rd place 'Mamiko Tanaka,' 4th place 'Hitoshi Matsumoto,' and 5th place 'AFC Asian Cup,' with popular figures and sports-related words ranking high.

The global trend rankings for 2025 are as follows. Coming in at number one is Google's AI, Gemini. Cricket-related terms 'India vs England' and 'India vs Australia' come in second and fifth. Third place is 'Charlie Kirk,' a conservative activist who was shot and killed in September 2025.

There are also trend rankings by category. In searches related to pavilions at the Osaka-Kansai Expo , which will be held from April 13, 2025 to October 13, 2025, 'Kuwait Pavilion' came in first place.
