NotebookLM is a document-based AI tool that includes many features, such as the ability to create and summarize text, have the AI read the text aloud, and turn the text into a video.

In November 2025, Google announced Nano Banana Pro , its most powerful image generation model to date. It was also promoted for its exceptional infographic generation capabilities, and NotebookLM's official Twitter account even posted 'AI-generated recipe images' as part of its promotion of Nano Banana Pro.

However, X user Nate Hake responded to the image, pointing out that it closely resembled

3. AI sloppify it
5. Skip “Step 4”
6. Pass it off as a “family recipe”
7. Don't link to source

The image on the left is from Google, and the recipe on the right is from a blogger. There are some minor differences in the wording, but the ingredients and quantities are exactly the same from top to bottom.

'The AI didn't 'think,' it just literally scraped the recipes, ran them through Google's model, and turned them into pretty cards,' Hake said. 'This incident shows how Google is trying to extend its search monopoly to a monopoly on search results. Previously, Google sent traffic to sites that put effort into creating content, but now with AI, they just scrape the content and republish it in AI-summarized form. Traffic to content creators has plummeted.'
After being pointed out by X, Google quietly removed the NotebookLM post.
