The 'Luxury Shumai Bento' steamed in-store is a new menu item at Hoka Hoka Tei, so I got to try it out early.

At the venue, shumai were actually being steamed. Apparently, in actual stores, they use much larger steamers.

And this is the luxurious shumai bento. It comes with shumai sauce and mustard.

I removed the lid. There were four shumai inside. There were also rolled eggs, popcorn shrimp (fried small shrimp), and sweet and spicy root vegetables.

It's packed with plenty of meat.

When you bite into it, the sweetness of the meat and onions spreads throughout your mouth. The skin is plump and chewy, and you can enjoy the unique sensation of shumai: 'When you tear the skin open, the juicy meat comes out.'

The shumai is sweetly seasoned, but the sauce gives it a refreshing taste. It also contains sweet and spicy root vegetables and popcorn shrimp, making it a hearty bento that will leave you feeling full.

The Luxury Shumai Bento is scheduled to be released on December 1, 2025, and will cost 810 yen (tax included). A single menu containing four luxury shumai will also be available for 320 yen (tax included).
