Amazon Leo is a service that deploys more than 150 satellites in Earth orbit and communicates with the ground, enabling internet access anywhere in the world. Competitors include SpaceX's Starlink.

The Leo Ultra service, available to businesses and government agencies, will achieve download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps, significantly exceeding the 400 Mbps download speed offered by Starlink, and Amazon claims it is the 'world's fastest mass-produced commercial antenna.'

Leo Ultra is designed to be durable and weatherproof, able to withstand high and low temperatures, precipitation, and strong winds, and is intended for operation in harsh environments. It eliminates moving parts for rapid deployment in a variety of locations. It also incorporates a custom silicon chip designed by Amazon Leo, Amazon's proprietary radio frequency design, and signal processing algorithms to maximize throughput and minimize latency.

For personal use, there is the compact 'Leo Pro,' which supports download speeds of up to 400Mbps, and the 'Leo Nano,' which supports download speeds of up to 100Mbps.

According to Amazon, it has already signed agreements with a wide range of partners, including airlines and logistics companies, such as JetBlue Airways, Hunt Energy Networks, Connected Farms, and Crane Worldwide Logistics. To quickly introduce Amazon Leo to these companies, the company will begin pilot operations and network testing prior to commercial deployment.

'Amazon Leo aims to provide reliable, high-speed internet to millions of businesses, government agencies, and organizations operating in areas beyond the reach of existing networks. Amazon Leo will help fill critical connectivity gaps in key industries, including energy, manufacturing, media, and transportation. This announcement marks an important step as the program moves from the introductory phase to commercial operations,' Amazon said.
