Review of Logitech's Signature Slim Solar+ (K980) keyboard, which can be used semi-permanently with solar panel charging

Wireless keyboards that can be used without cables are very convenient, but they require battery replacement or charging every few months. Logitech's Signature Slim Solar+ (K980), which will be released on November 27, 2025, is a wireless keyboard equipped with a solar-powered battery that can be charged using sunlight or indoor lighting, allowing it to be used semi-permanently without battery replacement. It seemed incredibly convenient, so I borrowed a real keyboard ahead of its release to check out its features.

The K980 box looks like this.

When I opened the box, the K980 appeared. It has the typical Logitech gray color scheme. In addition to Bluetooth, the K980 also supports wireless connection using Logitech's LogiBolt USB receiver, but the LogiBolt USB receiver is sold separately.

The K980 is a full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad.

The area where the Print Screen key and other keys are located on a typical keyboard has a key for switching connection destinations.

The key pitch of the alphabet keys (the distance from the center of a key to the center of the adjacent key) is approximately 18.5 mm.

The keystroke is approximately 4mm.

There is a solar panel in the recessed area above the function keys.

The recessed area seems like the perfect size for placing a pen or USB memory stick, but placing objects on it is not recommended as it could damage the solar panel.

There are no switches on the left side. The design is sloping, with the height increasing from the front to the back.

There are no switches on the right side either.

The front side looks like this.

At the back, there is a power switch on the left side when viewed from the back (right side when viewed from the front).

The power switch is red when off and green when on.

There are six anti-slip pads on the back.

The dimensions are 142.9mm high x 430.8mm wide x 20.2mm deep. Since it is a keyboard with separate insert keys and directional keys, it is quite wide.

The actual weight is 698g.

The pantograph keystroke is shallow. The typing feel is similar to that of a laptop keyboard. The keyboard responds smoothly and there is no discomfort while typing. I took a video so you can hear the sound of the keys being pressed.

The K980 requires a minimum of 200 lux of illumination to charge. When connected to Logitech's device management app, Logi Options+ , the bottom left of the app screen will indicate whether the illumination is sufficient. 200 lux is the recommended illumination level for relaxing spaces such as living rooms , so it should be bright enough for a room where you do office work. It can also be used in complete darkness for up to four months.

The K980 is scheduled to be released on November 27, 2025, and can be pre-ordered at the official Logitech store for 16,390 yen (including tax). Also, it can be pre-ordered at Amazon.co.jp for 14,900 yen.
