According to the report, the man had stored the AI-generated pornographic content on his smartphone, but because the screen was too small, he moved the files to a government computer. He also reportedly moved a large compressed file containing multiple directories of pornographic images he had collected since the 1990s to a personal cloud storage drive to use in generating new images.

However, the man moved the files to a cloud storage drive that was on a government network, which resulted in the government network being flooded with pornographic content, with the man uploading approximately 187,000 pieces of content.

About six months after the upload, an internal government investigator questioned why the server was overflowing with pornographic images and discovered the man's mistake.

The man was stripped of his security clearance and filed an appeal, which in this case led to a lengthy investigation and interviews with multiple psychologists.

According to the investigation, the man had been treated for depression since childhood, had mood swings, and was in a bad mental state when he accidentally uploaded pornographic content. The man admitted to the psychologist that he should have realized that he had backed up his personal pornography on a government network, but explained that he was in a severe state of depression at the time and was therefore unable to foresee the actions and consequences several steps ahead.

He also said he believed that even though his personal drive was connected to his employer's system, it was somehow separated so that his personal materials would not contaminate his government-issued computer.

In his appeal for reinstatement, the man complained of excessive oversight by his superiors and likened his interrogation of pornography to the 'Spanish Inquisition.' However, his appeal was unsuccessful and his security clearance was not reinstated. The report states, 'The psychologist determined that the individual was highly likely to experience another depressive episode in the future.'
