The packaging for 'Nissin Black Curry Meshi Rich Beef' is black-based. The font for the 'black' part has been changed to emphasize it.

The spiciness level is 'medium spicy'.

The ingredients are as follows. Apart from the 'black' squid ink powder, there doesn't seem to be anything special about curry made with roux.

According to Curry Meshi-kun, 30 seconds is 'super delicious!', 60 seconds is 'unnecessarily delicious!', and 300 seconds is 'I'm not myself anymore.' Calories per 104g serving are 444kcal.

When you open the lid, the inside looks like this. In the center, there is a pitch-black curry roux.

Pour hot water here, approximately 230ml.

Cover and wait 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, stir 'in a circular motion for at least 30 seconds.' I'm a bit worried about what Curry Meshi-kun says about 'making me feel like myself again,' but this time I aimed for 30 seconds, which is the 'super delicious!'

It's finished. The taste is that of a classic European-style curry made with beef, with a slight sourness that doesn't overpower the rich sweetness of the caramelized onions. It's listed as medium spicy, but it's not too spicy to irritate the tongue, so I think it's a flavor that would be acceptable to a wide range of people. However, I couldn't quite taste the squid ink.

'Nissin Black Curry Meshi Rich Beef' has a suggested retail price of 298 yen excluding tax and will be on sale from Monday, November 10, 2025. On Amazon, a set of 6 was sold for 1,931 yen including tax (322 yen per piece).
