According to CEO Su, demand for AI infrastructure and chips will remain strong, and AMD predicts that over the next three to five years, its data center business will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 60% and its core business at more than 10%, for a total growth rate of more than 35%.
The AI data center sector is particularly expected to grow, with sales expected to reach tens of billions of dollars (several trillion yen) by 2027, with a projected growth rate of 80% in the short term.
When it comes to AI chips, NVIDIA, led by CEO Jensen Huang, has overwhelming power, dominating the market with over 90% of the market share. Even in terms of market capitalization, AMD is worth approximately $387 billion (approximately ¥60 trillion), while NVIDIA is worth more than $4.6 trillion (approximately ¥710 trillion). However, CEO Su said that AMD expects to grow its market share to double digits over the next three to five years.
The background to these comments is believed to be the company's partnership with OpenAI to build a 6GW data center and its provision of an AI supercluster equipped with 50,000 GPUs to Oracle.
