Alex Ahn, a musician based in Marietta, Georgia, was the victim of a car break-in, which involved the theft of his electric violins , one of his tools of trade. Ahn owns seven electric violins, including his main instrument, which is engraved with his own logo.

Mr. Ann, who had a concert scheduled for the day after his violin was stolen, panicked, but fortunately he had an AirTag lost item tracker hidden in his equipment, so he was able to quickly track the instrument's whereabouts.

Using the Find My app, Ahn found the AirTag's location and found it at Guitar Center , a music store in Marietta. He went there to spot the thief. 'I walked in and saw the man trying to sell my instrument. I stopped one of the employees and said, 'That instrument is mine. Can you hold him there until the police arrive?'' Ahn recalled.

Local police then arrived at the Guitar Center and arrested Jonathan Brown, who was trying to sell Ahn's electric violin. Police credited AirTags with helping them catch the culprit.

'While this technology (AirTags) is not foolproof, it can help certain victims,' said Officer Chuck McPhillamy of the Marietta Police Department. 'We encourage the use of this type of technology to assist law enforcement.'

In fact, there are several cases where AirTags have helped people find lost or stolen items.

'We weren't able to recover everything that was stolen, but we were able to get back our main equipment and continue working, so I feel we were lucky in that respect,' said Ang.

Marietta Police also warn that if you track down stolen property, do not confront the suspect directly; instead, maintain a safe distance and contact police immediately.

AirTags are also sold on Amazon.co.jp, with one pack costing 4,779 yen including tax and four packs costing 16,294 yen including tax.
