Claude for Excel can 'read, analyze, modify, and create new Excel files.' The Claude chat interface appears in the Excel sidebar, allowing users to pass prompts and simplify Excel operations.

Claude for Excel allows you to create financial statements from scratch or audit human-created spreadsheets. It can also correct formula errors. Claude for Excel clearly identifies changes made, facilitating a final human review.
Anthropic advised, 'Claude can make mistakes, so always review any changes before finalizing them, especially for client deliverables.'
In addition to Excel, you will be able to create and edit PowerPoint slides and more, and you will also be able to connect to Microsoft 365 to search for files, emails, and Teams conversations.

Claude for Excel is available as a research preview to 1,000 users on Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, who can sign up for a waitlist.
Anthropic is focusing on integrating financial services with Claude, and is expanding its functionality with the introduction of Claude for Excel and other tools. It has already integrated Claude with a number of companies, including the London Stock Exchange, credit rating agency Moody's Ratings, and investment research company Third Bridge.
Claude can now connect to @LSEplc , @moodysratings , @Aiera , @teamthirdbridge , @mtnewswires , Chronograph, and @egnyte .

These updates build on Claude Sonnet 4.5's industry-leading performance on finance tasks.
'We're expanding Claude for Financial Services to include an Excel add-in and agent skills like discounted cash flow modeling and coverage reporting,' said Anthropic. 'We're enhancing Claude's intelligence by introducing solutions for time-consuming but critical financial tasks.'
