According to the Ministry of State Security, in 2022, the NSA exploited a vulnerability in the SMS service of a 'non-Chinese smartphone brand' to launch a cyberattack on the mobile phones of several staff members at the National Emergency Management Center, stealing classified information stored on the devices. The specific brand name was not disclosed.

The Ministry of National Security also claims that the NSA has used stolen credentials to hack into computers at the National Security Center and monitor network systems since April 18, 2023.

Furthermore, between August 2023 and June 2024, the NSA deployed a new cyberattack platform and launched 42 specialized cyberattack weapons to launch high-intensity cyberattacks against multiple network systems central to the nation's intelligence services, including attempts to infiltrate high-precision ground-based intelligence services in order to paralyze and disrupt their operations.

The US Embassy has declined to comment on the matter.
