Meta said, 'Following guidance from UK regulators and in close consultation with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), we will be introducing ad-free subscriptions in the UK in the coming weeks. This will allow UK users to continue using Facebook and Instagram for free with personalized ads, or opt out of ads by subscribing.'

The ad-free subscription costs £2.99 (approximately ¥600) per month, while subscriptions via the iOS and Android apps will be subject to the app store's purchasing policy, bringing the monthly fee to £3.99 (approximately ¥800).
Regardless of where you purchased your ad-free subscription, it applies to all Facebook and Instagram accounts you've added to the Meta Accounts Center. Each additional account listed in the Accounts Center will incur an additional £2 ($4.00) per month for subscriptions via the web, and £3 ($6.00) per month for subscriptions via iOS and Android.

Meta also offers a similar service within the EU, but the European Commission, the EU's executive body, has pointed out that the service violates the Digital Markets Act.
Meta welcomed the move, saying, 'The constructive approach and results that the ICO has demonstrated in its ongoing dialogue distinguish it from similar discussions with the EU.'
Gareth Olderle, a partner at the UK law firm TLT, told The Guardian: 'The ICO's position is certainly pro-business and shows the UK government's support for regulators to support economic growth and the development of the digital economy. However, it also means that the gap between the UK and the EU has widened somewhat.'
GIGAZINE also operates a Facebook account , which is updated every time a new article is published or an announcement is made, so it is useful to follow it.
