When asked, 'Have you ever read a GIGAZINE review article and been influenced to actually purchase a product or service?', 60.6% of readers answered 'yes,' while 39.4% answered 'no.'

GIGAZINE readers have a variety of statuses, so we looked into what kind of readers are particularly influenced by GIGAZINE review articles.
First, there are differences between men and women. The percentage of male readers who answered that they have purchased a product or service because of a review was '63.2%,' slightly higher than the overall average.

In contrast, the percentage of women was 45.3%, which is significantly lower than the overall average. It's not just that women are less influenced by reviews, but it's also possible that the products and services reviewed on GIGAZINE are too male-oriented (products and services that female readers are not interested in).

The top five prefectures with the most GIGAZINE readers are Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, Aichi, and Saitama. We investigated which of these five prefectures have the most readers who are particularly influenced by review articles.
Among GIGAZINE readers living in Tokyo, 64.8% responded that they had purchased a product or service based on a review article. This is a higher percentage of readers who were influenced by reviews than when the survey was limited to male readers only.

Kanagawa Prefecture had the highest percentage of readers who were influenced by reviews. A whopping 67% of readers living in Kanagawa Prefecture responded that they had purchased a product or service based on a review article. Tasting reviews of independently owned restaurants are often found in the Tokyo area, so this may be a factor.
Among the top five prefectures with the most GIGAZINE readers, Osaka Prefecture had the lowest percentage of readers who answered that they had purchased a product or service based on a review article. At 60.1%, this percentage was even lower than the overall average.

Among GIGAZINE readers living in Aichi Prefecture, 61.4% responded that they have purchased products or services based on review articles.

Among GIGAZINE readers living in Saitama Prefecture, 61.3% responded that they have purchased a product or service based on a review article. Even within the Kanto region, the percentage of readers who have been influenced by reviews varies significantly depending on their location.

The breakdown by married and unmarried people is as follows:
Among GIGAZINE readers who are married (with children), 61.4% responded that they have been influenced by review articles.

Among GIGAZINE readers who are married (without children), 64.6% responded that they have been influenced by review articles.

Among GIGAZINE readers who are unmarried (with children), 63.4% responded that they had been influenced by review articles.

Among GIGAZINE readers who are unmarried (without children), 59.1% responded that they had been influenced by review articles.

Surprisingly, unmarried people without children were least affected by the review article. This may be because most students who are financially strapped fall into the 'unmarried (without children)' category.
We also looked into whether there was any difference depending on the smartphone used.
Among GIGAZINE readers who use iPhones, 64.9% responded that they have been influenced by review articles.

Among GIGAZINE readers who use Android, 61% responded that they had been influenced by review articles.

If you are publishing a review article targeting smartphone users, it would be more effective to target iPhone users.
Some of you may have a vague idea of the readership to whom GIGAZINE's review articles can have a particularly large impact. If you are such a marketer, please feel free to contact us about advertising on the media information site below!
GIGAZINE.BIZ | Information on advertising on the IT news site GIGAZINE.
GIGAZINE runs a variety of advertorials, and advertisers want reviews to only mention the good points. However, the editor-in-chief of GIGAZINE believes that listing both the good and bad points is more trustworthy and ultimately leads to a higher level of satisfaction when it comes to purchasing (because customers know not only the good points but also the bad points).
When we asked GIGAZINE readers about this, 98% of them answered that 'both the good and the bad points should be written.'

GIGAINE offers a 'Completely Leave It to Me Course' as an option for article advertising. This is recommended because it allows you to post article advertisements that will appeal to GIGAZINE readers at a lower cost than the 'Pre-Check Course' while also writing about the good and bad points in your review.
