What does Black Thunder's Yuraku Confectionery's extra-thick chocolate bar 'Deluxe Milk Chocolate' taste like? A review

Yuraku Confectionery is famous for Black Thunder, but they have actually been selling a product called ' Deluxe Milk Chocolate ' since 1979. In addition, there is also 'Deluxe Milk Chocolate Thin Plate', which is a Deluxe Milk Chocolate finished to a thickness of 4 mm. Since the two types of chocolate arrived at the GIGAZINE editorial department, I tried to actually eat them to see what they tasted like.

This is the outer box of the Deluxe Milk Chocolate. It has a completely different feel to the Black Thunder, with a luxurious appearance.

The ingredients are only 'sugar,' 'whole milk powder,' 'cocoa butter,' 'cocoa mass,' 'skim milk powder,' 'emulsifier,' and 'flavoring.' It's pretty simple.

The calorie content is 570 kcal per 100 g. There are 330 g in one box, so if you eat the whole thing, it will be 1,881 kcal.

Inside the box were two deluxe milk chocolate bars.

This is what it looks like from the side. It's much thicker than a regular chocolate bar.

I put it on a plate.

The thickness of the thickest part is approximately 15mm.

The cross section looks like this. There are no toppings and it is made entirely of milk chocolate.

When I tried it, I found it to be an intensely sweet chocolate with a strong milky taste. When I put it in my mouth, it melted smoothly and spread across my tongue, and the rich sweetness spread throughout my mouth. Rather than being a 'chocolate that tastes of cacao,' it was finished as a 'chocolate that lets you enjoy rich sweetness and a milky taste.' It was not a luxury product for adults, but a luxurious chocolate that children could enjoy together.

I also try the Deluxe Milk Chocolate Thin Plate.

Contains 30 sheets.

The ingredients are the same as deluxe milk chocolate: sugar, whole milk powder, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, skim milk powder, emulsifier, and flavoring.

Each piece contains 31kcal.

The pouch looks like this.

I put it on a plate.

Deluxe Milk Chocolate Thin Bars are Deluxe Milk Chocolate bars cut to a thickness of 5mm, and have the same basic flavor as Deluxe Milk Chocolate. However, what's interesting is that the sweetness spreads more slowly in your mouth, perhaps because the air trapped in the bar when it breaks.

At the official Yuraku Seika online shop, the Deluxe Milk Chocolate is sold for 1,520 yen (tax included), and the Deluxe Milk Chocolate Thin Bar is sold for 1,250 yen (tax included). They are also available at the same prices at the official Yuraku Seika online shop on Rakuten Ichiba.
