'Typepad' is a blogging platform developed by the software company Six Apart based on 'Movable Type,' which has been available since 2001. It was originally called ' TypePad ,' with a capital P. Garth Webb, a former Typepad developer, wrote on Hacker News, ' Although Typepad was heavily influenced by Movable Type, it was a separate instance of Movable Type, and Movable Type updates could not patch Typepad .'

At its peak, news magazines like TIMES and MSNBC, tech site WIRED, and broadcasters ABC, CBC, BBC, and Sky News all used Typepad as a blog hosting service.

In Japan, the Japanese version service 'TypePad Japan' has been available since 2004, with four plans available: 'TypePad Micro (free of charge),' 'TypePad Basic (420 yen per month),' 'TypePad Plus (840 yen per month),' and 'TypePad Pro (1,260 yen per month).' According to an article in Internet Watch at the time of the service's launch, the above prices were for users who signed up by September 30, 2024, with the list prices being 630 yen per month for Basic, 1,050 yen per month for Plus, and 1,890 yen per month for Pro.

Later, in April 2012, 'TypePad Business' was relaunched as 'Lekumo Business Blog' in Japan.
