Three people were indicted this time. According to prosecutors, Chen, a former employee of TSMC, asked his former colleagues for help in obtaining confidential information from TSMC after he left the company and joined Tokyo Electron. Some of the colleagues responded to his request and are believed to have illegally obtained and leaked the confidential information.

Prosecutors plan to seek a 14-year prison sentence for Chen and nine- and seven-year sentences for the other two defendants, citing threats to Taiwan's national security.
