YouTube launches 'Hype' feature in 39 countries, including Japan, that allows creators with less than 500,000 subscribers to promote up to three videos per week

YouTube has announced that it will release

its Hype feature , which allows creators to promote videos on its mobile app, in 39 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and India. At the time of writing, the feature is available in limited beta for creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers.

The Hype feature allows creators to promote up to three videos per week. Videos that have been published within the last seven days can be promoted with the Hype feature, and promoted videos will be awarded points, increasing the chances of appearing in the rankings under 'Explore' in the menu. The fewer subscribers a channel has, the greater the bonus, which gives up-and-coming creators a chance to get noticed.

The Hype feature is available on smartphone apps. Eligible videos must be published within the last seven days and the creator must have between 500 and 500,000 subscribers. When you press the like button on an eligible video, a dedicated 'Hype' button will appear directly below the video.

Explore now has a new 'Hype' category, videos across YouTube will now have 'Trending' badges, and you'll be able to filter your home feed by the new 'Trending' category.

Additionally, creators will receive notifications when their promoted videos are close to reaching the top of the charts, and their most dedicated fans will earn new promoted star badges each month to share with others. And creators can see exactly how many Hype points and Hype Points each video has earned in the YouTube Studio app for smartphones.
