'Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black / Cafe Latte' Tasting Review: Easy to drink and refreshing aftertaste in a 450ml PET bottle

Starbucks will release the ' Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black/Cafe Latte ' as part of its 450ml PET bottle coffee series on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Based on the concept of 'The taste that will color your day, in your hands,' the drink will feature a satisfying deep-roasted coffee. The actual product was sent to the GIGAZINE editorial department, so we tried drinking it early to see how it tasted.

This is the packaging for Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black (left) / Cafe Latte (right). The green label features the familiar Starbucks logo.

First, I will try Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black.

The label only had the 'Coffee' column checked. It was black unsweetened, so it didn't contain milk or sugar.

The only ingredients are coffee and flavorings. The coffee beans are sourced from Brazil and Colombia. The content is 450ml and the calories are 0kcal per 100ml.

I poured it into a clear glass.

The color is like this.

When I tried it, I found it to have almost no acidity and a slight roasted aroma, but a simple flavor. The bitterness was clean and the aftertaste faded quickly, so I felt it was perfect for a refreshing drink when chilled. According to Starbucks, Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black can be paired with 'cookies such as salted caramel or chocolate chip cookies' to enhance the coffee's aftertaste.

Next up is Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Cafe Latte.

Looking at the label, 'Coffee,' 'Milk,' and 'Sugar' are all checked.

The ingredients are milk, sugar, coffee, dairy products, salt, flavoring, etc. The content is 450ml, and the calories are 31kcal per 100ml. This works out to 139.5kcal per bottle.

I will also pour this into a clear glass and drink it.

It's beige in color and looks just like a regular cafe latte.

When you drink it, a gentle sweetness spreads. It seems a little sweet for a cafe latte, but the sweetness isn't cloying and fades away quickly. Perhaps because I had just had a black coffee, I could feel the sweetness as well as the creamy, smooth taste and the flavor of milk. The aroma and bitterness of the coffee emerge after the sweetness fades. According to Starbucks, it is recommended to pair the Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Cafe Latte with 'soft bread made with brown sugar.'

Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black/Café Latte will be available on September 9, 2025. The suggested retail price is 180 yen (excluding tax) for Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Black and 190 yen (excluding tax) for Starbucks COFFEE OF THE DAY Café Latte.
