EeveeSpotify, an unofficial app created by modifying the iOS Spotify app, looks and operates just like the standard Spotify app, but offers access to premium features without a paid subscription. By simply installing EeveeSpotify instead of Spotify, users can enjoy the Spotify UI and library as is, as well as unlock Spotify's paid features, such as ad-free music, lyrics display, free song order, and offline playback.
A precompiled package of EeveeSpotify had been available on GitHub for about a year, but because the app is an unauthorized copy of Spotify, a takedown notice was sent to the entire EeveeSpotify repository for copyright issues. In the takedown notice, Spotify states that 'EeveeSpotify contains multiple pieces of original code that are copyrighted.'
As a result, EeveeSpotify was removed from GitHub for violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). In addition to the entire EeveeSpotify repository, 500 GitHub 'forks' that allow users to copy other people's repositories into their own accounts were also removed.

However, shortly after Spotify's DMCA notice was accepted by GitHub and EeveeSpotify was removed, the developer posted a new repository to GitHub called 'EeveeSpotifyReborn.'

Developer whoeevee stated, 'The original EeveeSpotify repository was disabled due to a DMCA takedown. This repository does not contain IPA packages, as the most likely reason for the takedown is the IPA package (the file format for iOS apps).' This means that EeveeSpotify was taken down because it distributed a modified version of the Spotify app. EeveeSpotifyReborn avoids this by allowing users to build the app themselves, rather than distributing it.
In its takedown notice for EeveeSpotify, Spotify also mentioned safeguards to control access to copyrighted content. Therefore, it is unclear whether EeveeSpotifyReborn will be able to avoid DMCA violations. However, as of the time of writing, there are already over 100 forks of EeveeSpotifyReborn on GitHub.
