'European word translator' that translates English words into each European language and displays them on a map

The British newspaper The Guardian has a website called ` `European word translator '' that translates English words into various languages used in Europe, so I tried it out.

Simply visit the page above, enter an English word in the input field, and click 'Translate it!' The word you entered will be translated into the language of each region and displayed on the map.

Hover your cursor over a word on the map to see the language it is in. This is useful for researching things like where 'pineapple' is called 'ananas.'

'Apple' looks like this. In Sweden it's 'äpple' with an umlaut on the first letter.

'Banana' looks like this, and you can see that similar words are used in many languages.

Each word is generated by Google Translate via the Google Translate API.
