The logo was created by Alexander Golitzen , an art director who worked at Universal Pictures for over 30 years.
The first step in creating the logo was to photograph stars rotating around a thin

The star was illuminated by multiple lights, including two orbiting lights, and was photographed while rotating independently.

This allowed us to capture images that looked as if the stars were streaming towards the center.

Next came spherical photography, which was carried out using two spheres: the first was painted black on the outside with a thin layer of phosphor paint on the inside;

The sphere was placed in front of a projection screen and the image of the stars was projected onto it, creating a sparkling image of the starlight reflecting off the sphere.

The second sphere was larger and had the words 'A UNIVERSAL PICTURE' affixed to an illuminating metal rod protruding from the sphere. The sphere was manually rotated and filmed at an estimated rate of approximately 32 frames per second.

After that, an image of a sphere with text was projected onto an image of a sphere reflecting sparkling stars, and two images were taken: one with the text reflected on the sphere and one with no light shining on the sphere or text.

Finally, after all of these images were layered, a bright sphere with letters was projected onto the screen. It took about six months to create this opening logo.
