Pay with Crypto, provided by PayPal, supports transactions with over 100 cryptocurrencies and wallets such as Coinbase and MetaMask. PayPal says that by instantly converting cryptocurrencies into stable coins or fiat currencies, it connects merchants to a market of over $3 trillion (about 450 trillion yen).

According to Frank Keller, general manager of PayPal's Merchant Platform, small and medium-sized businesses accepting payments from international buyers can typically incur associated fees of over 10% and transactions can take several days to settle, but with 'Pay with Crypto,' transactions are settled instantly with transaction fees of just 0.99%. When consumers pay with cryptocurrency, the funds are automatically converted to fiat currency or PayPal's stablecoin, PYUSD , and deposited into the merchant's account.

'Businesses of all sizes face immense pressure as they expand globally, from the increasing cost of accepting international payments to complex integrations. Today we are removing these barriers to help businesses of all sizes achieve their goals. Imagine a shopper in Guatemala purchasing a special gift from a merchant in Oklahoma City. By leveraging PayPal's open platform, businesses can accept cryptocurrency payments, increase their profit margins, enjoy low transaction fees and access revenue almost instantly. Plus, PayPal's PYUSD holdings will grow at 4%.'

Ahead of Pay with Crypto, PayPal has announced a global platform called PayPal World on July 23, 2025 to simplify digital payments.

PayPal World integrates major payment systems and digital wallets from around the world onto a single platform, dramatically simplifying cross-border payments and remittances. This means users can now use the payment apps and digital wallets they normally use in their home countries, even when traveling abroad or shopping at online stores overseas. It also eliminates the high fees and complicated procedures that have traditionally been challenges in international transactions, making remittances smoother.

Furthermore, PayPal World will benefit businesses by allowing them to automatically add new digital payment methods from around the world to their payment system without any additional development work. This will enable them to reach approximately 2 billion potential customers who use PayPal's initial partners, potentially expanding sales opportunities. PayPal World is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2025, with initial partners including PayPal, Venmo, Mercado Pago, NPCI International Payments Limited (UPI), and Tenpay Global.
