It has been revealed that the chat AI 'Grok' will be standard installed in Tesla cars delivered after July 12, 2025, and existing cars will also be supported by updates

Tesla, an electric car manufacturer whose CEO is Elon Musk, has announced that all Tesla cars delivered after July 12, 2025 will come standard with X's chat AI 'Grok.' Tesla announced that all Tesla vehicles delivered after July 12 will come standard with Grok, a chat AI developed by xAI. Tesla-related media Teslarati stated, 'This feature marks the most direct integration yet between Elon Musk's AI startup and Tesla's consumer product lineup, giving drivers access to a hands-free, chat-style companion while on the road.'

Additionally, for Tesla vehicles that have already been delivered, Grok will be rolled out in a new software update, 2025.26, announced on July 13, for vehicles that meet the hardware and software requirements.

Specifically, the update will be available to vehicles that meet the following requirements: 'Equipped with an AMD infotainment processor,' 'Running vehicle software version '2025.26' or later,' 'Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, or Cybertruck,' and 'Subscribe to Premium Connectivity or have an active Wi-Fi connection.'

You can see how you can actually have a voice conversation with Grok installed in a Tesla car in the video below.

'What would you do on your first date with Tesla's Optimus ?' the driver jokes to Grok, who is in his Tesla car.

Grok jokingly replies, 'I'll take that shiny new Optimus to a dive bar, get him drunk on oil, and have him dance to the jukebox to see if he shorts out.'

'Optimus will probably ride his hydraulic arms like a cow, whispering sweet nothings to me in binary, and then, with a bit of luck, he'll let me hook up to his circuits under some neon lights and be okay with a slightly dingy interface,' Grok joked.

Drivers can interact with Grok using the touchscreen app launcher or by pressing and holding the voice command button on the steering wheel, but at the time of writing, Grok is not yet able to send commands to the vehicle itself, so it cannot control things like climate control or navigation.
