Novelist Takumi Yanai.

His book 'Gate: Thus the JSDF Fought There' is a fantasy novel that depicts the struggles of the Self-Defense Forces who are sent to the other side of a gate that suddenly appears in the middle of Tokyo and leads to another world, triggered by an invasion by a mysterious army. The series started as a web novel and was later made into a book, and is a popular series that has sold over 7 million copies in total.

This work was adapted into an anime in 2015 under the title 'GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There.'

The second season, 'GATE SEASON 2: Thus the JSDF Fought There,' depicts the battles of the Maritime Self-Defense Force.

Ten years have passed since the previous series was made into an anime, and now it has been decided that a second season will be made.

According to the project producer, Nakao Yukihiko of Genco, in order to depict the battles of the Maritime Self-Defense Force in this work, they conducted thorough research on the Maritime Self-Defense Force in order to pursue realism. Since there were some parts of the research that were 'no photography allowed,' they went back and forth many times to create the parts they didn't understand.

Captain Hiroyuki Shiozaki, commander of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Hakodate Base, also participated in the event as a guest, and we had the opportunity to hear some authentic commands.

By the way, curry was mentioned in the conversation, and the recipe published by the Hakodate Base is seafood curry. It is said that the rice should be served in a pentagonal shape, like Goryokaku.
