'Soundslice' is a service that allows you to import sheet music from photos or PDFs, edit it, have it played for you, or use it for practice.

Because the import of sheet music is a core part of the service, the error log is monitored to see what kind of images are failing to be imported.

However, according to Holovati, in the past few months, screenshots like the one below, which had never been seen before, have been appearing one after another in the error log. As the word 'ChatGPT' appears in the title, this is an ASCII tablature output by ChatGPT. Although tablature is not a musical score written on a staff, it is a type of musical score used for stringed instruments such as guitars. Among them, ASCII tablature is written only in ASCII code so that it can be displayed on PCs and smartphones.

Mr. Holovati, who was wondering why similar ChatGPT screenshots kept being uploaded, said he found the answer by using ChatGPT himself.
That's the image below. ChatGPT instructed, 'To listen to the ASCII tablature on Soundslice, create an account or sign in, and paste this ASCII tablature into the 'Tab' editor from the new creation screen.' In other words, someone who saw this was going to access Soundslice, upload the image, and listen to the sound.

The problem was that Soundslice didn't have the ability to load ASCII tablature, so ChatGPT was lying to its users.
After wondering whether they should add a warning saying, 'Soundslice does not support ASCII tablature, so please ignore what ChatGPT says,' Holovati and his team decided that they should respond to market demand and equipped Soundslice with an ASCII tablature import function. According to Holovati, the function to import ASCII tablature was at the bottom of the 'software expected to be made in 2025' list. In addition, the UI of the sheet music scanner has been changed accordingly.

Regarding the “reason” behind adding the ASCII tablature import feature, Holovati said, “As far as I know, this is the first time a company has developed a feature because of ChatGPT’s misinformation, and I thought it was a funny story, so I shared it.”
While they are pleased to have been able to add a tool to help users, they also feel that they were forced into developing it, and express some conflict, asking, 'Should we really have developed a feature to deal with misinformation?'
