A VR game where you eat more vegetables and your weapons get stronger has appeared at the Osaka Kansai Expo. Here's our report.

At

the Osaka-Kansai Expo , there are not only foreign pavilions but also many facilities exhibiting the charm of Japan and future technology. One of these domestic exhibition facilities , Future Life Experience (FLE), is exhibiting a VR game called ' Vege Quest ' in which the strength of weapons changes depending on the amount of vegetables consumed for a limited time from June 24, 2025 (Tuesday) to July 7, 2025 (Monday), so I visited the venue to see what kind of game it was.

VegiQuest is a VR game that utilizes personal health records ( PHR ) promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and is exhibited at FLE, one of the pavilions at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, as part of an experience project called ' A New Era of Wellness Life Brought by PHR .' FLE is located northwest of the West Gate, and is at 'L02' in the upper left of the venue map below.

We head for FLE using the map as a guide.

The FLE is a building made up of multiple cylindrical structures.

Inside FLE, I discovered an exhibition area called 'Exciting! Colorful VR with Vegetables - Practice Future Health with You and Your Loved Ones' where you can play Veggie Quest.

The poster for Veggie Quest looks like this: Veggie Quest is a game developed by Kagome , famous for tomato juice and other products.

Upon entering the exhibition area, we were first asked to measure our estimated vegetable intake using '

VegiCheck ,' a device developed by Kagome that can measure vegetable intake levels (estimated vegetable intake).

You can measure your vegetable intake by placing your hand on the palm-shaped area on the right.

I actually placed my palm on it.

The measurement took just a few seconds to complete. The 'estimated vegetable intake' was about 300g, and the 'vegetable intake level' was 5.8. VegiCheck estimates vegetable intake by measuring the amount of carotenoids in the skin. I usually try to eat 350g of vegetables a day, but I was just one step short.

Once your vegetable intake has been checked, you will be taken to the VR experience area where you can put on the VR goggles and play the Veggie Quest.

In Veg Quest, you can defeat enemies by equipping a weapon called a 'Vegetable Gun.' The strength of the Vegetable Gun changes depending on the vegetable intake level measured by the Vege Check. For example, this time, the vegetable intake level was 5.8, so you can use the second strongest 'Special Shooter.'

This is what it looks like playing Vegi Quest.

You can get a good idea of what kind of game Veggie Quest is by watching the video below, starting at

about 3 minutes and 18 seconds .

After you finish playing, your score will be displayed. The more vegetables you eat and the higher your vegetable intake level, the stronger your weapons will be, making it easier to aim for a high score. This system helps you naturally develop the habit of eating vegetables.
