A Reddit user reported that their save data for Pokémon Scarlet was lost when they were transferring data to their Nintendo Switch 2. The post has since been deleted, but other users have reported that their data had been lost, and staff at IGN have reported similar experiences.

The user who reported the issue apparently had over 1,000 hours of gameplay data, as well as data on the Pokémon they had been training and carrying over from Pokémon Leaf Green on the Game Boy Advance and Pokémon Diamond on the Nintendo DS.

'I just bought a Nintendo Switch 2, and the startup and data transfer went smoothly. But my Pokemon Scarlet save data has disappeared. The language selection screen loads quickly, and the character screen is created. But the data doesn't show up on the OLED display. It's all gone,' said one user who reported losing data. Several Pokemon fans who have experienced similar symptoms have posted comments.

He added, 'There were absolutely no errors with the data transfer.' 'I still have all my data for other Pokemon, but Scarlet is gone. All of my Pokemon data from the original Game Boy Advance to the present is there too. Literally 20 years' worth of data. I don't know what to do. I don't even know if I want to play anymore.'

IGN points out, 'Save files are invaluable to Pokemon fans, with some players even carrying over Pokemon they've trained across multiple previous games, including titles released years ago, to the newest games. However, Pokemon on Nintendo Switch is one of the few titles that is not compatible with the cloud save feature (save data storage). In fact, Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu! / Let's Go! Eevee !, Pokémon LEGENDS Arceus , Pokemon Sword & Shield , and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are all incompatible with the cloud save feature.'

In fact, Nintendo's official support page regarding save data storage lists the following Nintendo and Pokémon games that are not compatible with save data storage: 'Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee,' 'Pokémon Sword and Shield,' 'Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl,' 'Pokémon LEGENDS Arceus,' and 'Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.'

As a result, some Pokémon fans have been calling for the transfer of data to take place after transferring the Pokémon to Pokémon HOME, a service for storing Pokémon that have been raised in previous Pokémon series.
