Apple launches program to repair Mac minis that won't turn on for free



On June 13, 2025, Apple announced a service program to repair affected Mac minis (manufactured between June 16, 2024 and November 23, 2024) free of charge, stating that it had discovered an issue with the M2-equipped Mac mini that would cause it to not power up.

Apple announced a new Mac mini equipped with the M2 series in January 2023.

Of the M2-equipped Mac minis facing the 'will not power on' issue, those manufactured between June 16, 2024 and November 23, 2024 are not eligible for the program.

If you want to check if your Mac mini is eligible for free repair service, go to Apple's official repair service program page , enter the serial number in the text box at the top of the page, and click 'Submit.'



To check the serial number, select 'About This Mac' from the 'Apple menu' and check it from the window that opens. Instructions on how to check the serial number are also posted on

Apple's official support page .



To receive free repair service, you must use an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Store. Apple will inspect the product before repair service begins to verify whether the product is eligible for the program. However, Apple notes that 'If there is any damage that would prevent repair, that will need to be repaired first. Please note that in some cases, there may be an additional repair fee.'

In addition, this free repair service will be applicable for up to three years from the date of original retail sale, even if the Apple warranty period has expired.
