@Oadhan, who successfully purchased a Nintendo Switch 2 from the overseas game store GameStop, posted, 'GameStop stapled my and my friend's Nintendo Switch 2 receipts to the outer box. What a joke.'

In the image below, you can see the receipt stapled to the Nintendo Switch 2 outer box.

Additionally, @Oadhan also posted a photo showing that the outer box was torn because the receipt had been stapled in place.

The stapler also appears to have penetrated the vinyl covering the Nintendo Switch 2 console inside the outer box.

And there are two scratches on the Nintendo Switch 2 console caused by staples.

'We were at GameStop on launch day at midnight and I assume everyone in line is having the same issue,' @Oadhan wrote.

As reported by @Oadhan, several gamers who purchased a Nintendo Switch 2 from GameStop have reported the same issue. A Reddit post (which has since been deleted at the time of writing) titled 'My Nintendo Switch 2 bought at GameStop had scratches on the screen from a stapler' has been posted, and users who have also reported having scratches on the screen of their Nintendo Switch 2 purchased at GameStop have been posting the same issue.

In addition, @Oadhan said, 'GameStop responded to this issue, searching for replacements around New York and New Jersey, and providing new Nintendo Switch 2s to everyone who found themselves in the same situation. Although it wasn't an ideal situation, I'm glad that the situation was resolved!' He reported that GameStop replaced his with a new one.

Gaming media Eurogamer has contacted GameStop to ask about the scope of the problem, what measures it is taking to prevent similar incidents at other stores, and what it is doing to get new Nintendo Switch 2s to affected customers. A GameStop spokesperson would only say, 'We are currently investigating the matter. If any damage was reported, we will provide full compensation to customers.'
