Huawei announces 'MateBook Fold' and 'MateBook Pro' as its first HarmonyOS-equipped laptops

Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei has been developing its own operating system, HarmonyOS, for some time now, and has already released smartphones equipped with HarmonyOS. The company has now released two new notebook PCs equipped with HarmonyOS: the HUAWEI MateBook Fold and the HUAWEI MateBook Pro .

However, while a typical 2-in-1 model is a tablet-like device that can be used as a laptop by attaching a keyboard to it, the MateBook Fold does not have a keyboard side, but a full-screen display. The keyboard part is a virtual keyboard displayed on the tablet screen, so you can eliminate the keyboard display and use the hand side as part of the display.

And the hinges can be opened 180 degrees.

This means it can also be used as a giant tablet with an 18-inch display.

The device size is 382.5mm x 288.5mm x 7.3mm to 7.6mm when unfolded, and 288.5mm x 193.7mm x 14.9mm when closed. It weighs approximately 1.16kg. When unfolded, it can be used as a 4:3 display with 3296 x 2472 pixels, and when closed, one side can be used as a 3:2 display with 2472 x 1648 pixels. Storage can be selected from 1TB or 2TB, and memory is 32GB. Battery capacity is 74.69Wh. Interface is USB-C x 2. It is available in three colors: 'Unsui-indigo', 'Tenkai-shiro', and 'Tankei-kuro'. The price is 23,999 yuan (about 482,000 yen) for the 1TB model and 26,999 yuan (about 542,000 yen) for the 2TB model.

On the other hand, the MateBook Pro is an orthodox lightweight notebook PC. The device size is 310mm x 222mm x 13.5mm and weighs 970g. The screen size is 3120 x 2080 pixels, 3:2, and the storage can be selected from 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, and the memory can be selected from 24GB and 32GB. The battery capacity is 70Wh. It is available in three colors: 'Seirai', 'Senpaku', and 'Suzuri Black', and the price is 7,999 yuan (about 161,000 yen) to 10,999 yuan (about 221,000 yen).
