Honor's AI generator on the Google Veo 2 model can generate a 5-second video based on a still image in portrait or landscape orientation. It takes 1-2 minutes to generate the video. The AI generator is built into the gallery app on Honor smartphones, and the UI is very simple.

There's no option to add text prompts when generating videos, so 'you can only hope that the AI will handle it properly,' tech media The Verge writes.
The Verge has published an example of a video generated by Honor's AI generator.

The Verge, which actually used Honor's AI generator, wrote, 'Give it a simple subject, like a clear photo of a person or a pet, and it can generate some pretty realistic movements.' 'Other subjects are a bit trickier to work with, like
Honor 400 series users can use the photo-to-video feature for free for the first two months, but there is a limit of 10 videos per day. According to Chris Langley, Honor's UK marketing director, the feature 'will eventually require a subscription from Google,' but details were not available at the time of writing.
The video generation feature using Veo 2 is already included in Google's paid subscription 'Gemini Advanced,' but at the time of writing, it can only convert text to video. This is also the first time that Veo 2 will be directly integrated into a smartphone. Although Veo 2's image-to-video generation function is available on Google Cloud, Google charges users 50 cents per second for output, and the feature is only available to 'approved users.'
The Honor 400 series will be released in China and Europe, and is likely to be sold in India as well. TechRadar pointed out that many content creators and AI users may choose the Honor 400 series because they can shoot, edit, and make videos from the same device without having to switch between different apps.
Of the Honor 400 series, the Honor 400 is reported to be equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 200-megapixel main camera. And the Honor 400 Pro is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 200-megapixel main camera sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). Both models have a 5,300mAh battery, and only the Pro model supports 100W wired fast charging. The selling price is expected to be 499 euros (about 82,000 yen) for the Honor 400 and 799 euros (about 131,000 yen) for the Honor 400 Pro.

Even Google's own Pixel series smartphones have not yet had early access to the Veo 2, so 'Honor's early access to the Veo 2 signals a broader change in Google's approach to AI distribution. Rather than monopolizing features for its own devices, Google seems interested in becoming an AI platform for the entire Android ecosystem, and in the process increasing its influence in China,' TechRadar writes.
