A review of the DJI Flip, a small drone that looks like a fan when folded

The DJI drone ' DJI Flip ' is a small drone that is equipped with a propeller guard and a large-capacity battery, yet weighs less than 249g. I had the opportunity to touch the DJI Flip, so I first took a closer look at its appearance.

The outer box of the DJI Flip looks like this. This time, I borrowed the Fly More Combo, which comes with a touch screen controller ' DJI RC 2 ' and a battery charger.

Inside the box was a shoulder bag.

The shoulder bag holds the DJI Flip itself and its accessories.

This is what it looks like when you take out all the contents. From the top left, it is the DJI Flip main unit, DJI RC 2, battery charger and two replacement batteries, replacement propellers, a screwdriver used to replace the propellers, a USB cable, documents containing instructions and safety precautions, and stickers. The DJI Flip main unit also comes with a battery, so there are three batteries in total.

This is the DJI Flip. The propellers are folded up, making it look like a small fan.
It can also be placed upright as shown below. When folded, the dimensions are 136mm length x 62mm width x 165mm height.

I recorded a video of the propellers unfolding.
It looks like this when unfolded. The propellers are protected both vertically and horizontally by propeller guards.

The dimensions when unfolded are 233mm long x 280mm wide x 79mm high. It looks like this when placed on the palm of your hand to give you an idea of the size.

The front camera is covered by a cover that can be easily removed by hand.

When I removed the cover, I found that only the camera part was protected by a silicone cover.

The silicone cover can also be easily removed by hand.

The camera's sensor size is 1/1.3 inches, and the lens focal length is 24mm in 35mm equivalent. Video can be recorded at 4K 60fps, and it is also possible to create slow motion videos by shooting at 4K 100fps. The black area at the top is the 'aircraft status indicator' that shows the current mode.

The power button is on the left side, and the large button on the top is used to remove the battery.

On the right side are the mode button, microSD card slot, and USB Type-C port.

The back looks like this.

The area surrounded by the red frame contains sensors that detect obstacles below and the ground.

The battery can be removed by pressing the buttons on both sides.

This is what it looks like when you remove the battery.

With the battery installed and the camera cover removed, the actual weight was 247g.

You can charge the battery using the USB Type-C port on the side.

The Fly More Combo also comes with a battery charger.

The battery charger can charge two batteries on each side, for a total of four batteries at the same time. By the way, the maximum flight time from a fully charged battery is 31 minutes.

The touch screen controller 'DJI RC 2' that comes with the Fly More Combo looks like this.

The control stick is stored in the area surrounded by a red frame on the back.

The control stick can be installed simply by pinching it with your fingers and screwing it in.

I attached the control stick to the surface and deployed the antenna.

This is what it looks like when you turn on the DJI RC 2. If you connect it to a drone, you can control it while checking the image on the camera in real time.

DJI Flip is available at the DJI official online shop , etc. At the time of writing, the DJI Flip Fly More Combo is available at Amazon.co.jp for 112,750 yen including tax.
