Starting in June 2025, Epic Games Store fees will be waived for the first $1 million in annual revenue per app, after which the fee will return to the current 12% rate.

Epic Games has previously run a program called ' Epic First Run ,' in which participants are charged zero fees for six months after the game's release.

In addition, the company has also launched a program to reduce royalty rates from 5% to 3.5% across all stores for games that use Epic Games' game engine, Unreal Engine, and are distributed through the Epic Games Store.

It has also been revealed that a new feature called the 'Epic Games Store Web Shop' will be released.

The Epic Games Store web shop is a feature that allows developers to set up a web shop based on the Epic Games Store, and allows users to make payments through this shop. This is said to be a more cost-effective way to make payments than the fees imposed by Apple, Google, etc.

When a user makes an in-app payment for an app distributed on Google Play or the App Store, they can use a payment method provided by Google or Apple or an external payment system, but in either case, the app developer must pay a commission to Google or Apple. Apple takes a commission of about 30% and Google takes a commission of about 15% for this in-app payment.

Epic Games has been engaged in a long-term legal battle with Apple over the fee collection system, but the trial made a major breakthrough on April 30, 2025, when an injunction was issued prohibiting Apple from imposing fees on external payments, and Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney declared a de facto victory. This announcement was made two days after the ruling. With the prospect of external payments being liberalized, Epic Games is expected to attract existing app developers to the Epic Games Store web shop.
