We measured the communication speed of smartphones at the Osaka Kansai Expo site. On weekdays, Docomo's line exceeded 1Gbps, and au's line also performed well.

The Osaka Kansai Expo has been in the spotlight due to the poor mobile phone connection on the first day of the event. Since then, there have been reports that efforts have been made to improve the communication environment, so we decided to test the communication speeds at the venue.

I visited the Osaka Kansai Expo site on Thursday, April 17, 2025. This is the large staircase at the exit of Yumeshima Station.

This time, we prepared an iPhone 16 with an ahamo (Docomo line) SIM card inserted and an iPhone 16 with a povo (au line) SIM card inserted.

First, we measured the communication speed at the East Entrance Plaza, located just before the entrance to the East Gate.

At the East Gate, on April 13, 2025, the first day of the Expo's opening, mobile phone communications became difficult to connect, and problems such as delays in presenting admission tickets occurred. Since then, the Expo Association has requested cooperation from mobile phone carriers.

Mobile base stations of mobile phone carriers were deployed around the East Gate.

Rakuten Mobile.

au.

There are also mobile base stations for SoftBank and DoCoMo.

So, we moved to the East Gate.

I accessed the communication speed measurement site '

Fast.com ' and measured the communication speed three times. The results for ahamo (Docomo line) are as follows.
download Upload
1st time 600Mbps 41Mbps
Second time 650Mbps 42Mbps
3rd Time 450Mbps 37Mbps

The results for povo (au line) are as follows.
download Upload
1st time 260Mbps 51Mbps
Second time 330Mbps 35Mbps
3rd Time 190Mbps 36Mbps

Enter the venue through the East Gate and move to the area near the pop-up stage.

There is a large statue of Myakumyaku here, which is a popular photo spot.

The communication speeds of ahamo (Docomo line) are as follows.

download Upload
1st time 700Mbps 25Mbps
Second time 800Mbps 27Mbps
3rd Time 880Mbps 35Mbps

It looks like this with povo (au line).
download Upload
1st time 220Mbps 31Mbps
Second time 490Mbps 38Mbps
3rd Time 470Mbps 40Mbps

We moved to the Silent Forest in the center of the venue.

There were relatively few people in the Silent Forest.

The speeds of ahamo (Docomo line) are as follows. Download speeds of over 1Gbps were recorded.

download Upload
1st time 790Mbps 54Mbps
Second time 810Mbps 62Mbps
3rd Time 1.2Gbps 62Mbps

The results for povo (au line) are as follows.
download Upload
1st time 380Mbps 50Mbps
Second time 520Mbps 70Mbps
3rd Time 230Mbps 48Mbps

Move to the west side near the pop-up stage.

There is also a large Myakumyaku statue on the west side.

The measurement results for ahamo (Docomo line) look like this. Even near the pop-up stage on the west side, the download speed of ahamo (Docomo line) exceeded 1Gbps.

download Upload
1st time 900Mbps 55Mbps
Second time 1.3Gbps 62Mbps
3rd Time 1.3Gbps 62Mbps

povo (au line) is slower than ahamo (Docomo line), but it is fast enough for browsing and sending messages.
download Upload
1st time 610Mbps 54Mbps
Second time 840Mbps 62Mbps
3rd Time 880Mbps 70Mbps

Finally, we measured the internet speed inside the West Gate.

Here's how crowded it was. There were fewer people than at the East Gate.

The measurement results for ahamo (Docomo line) are as follows.

download Upload
1st time 260Mbps 16Mbps
Second time 520Mbps 42Mbps
3rd Time 770Mbps 47Mbps

povo (au line) looked like this.
download Upload
1st time 540Mbps 69Mbps
Second time 530Mbps 96Mbps
3rd Time 880Mbps 110Mbps
