Anthropic launches Claude Max plan, with 5x the usage caps of Pro for $100/month and 20x the caps for $200/month

Anthropic, the developer of the AI chatbot Claude, announced on April 10, 2025 that it will launch the 'Max Plan,' a step above the 'Pro Plan' that has been offered to individual users until now. Compared to the Pro Plan, the Max Plan has 5 to 20 times more usage restrictions on Claude than the Pro Plan, making it a plan for heavy users who use Claude on a daily basis.

On the official page announcing the Max plan, Anthropic said, 'The most common request from our most active users was to expand access to Claude.' Claude, an AI chatbot, can be used by free users, but free users are limited in the amount of usage per day, and if they use a certain amount, they will not be able to use it until the next day.

Pro users, who pay $17 per month, are allotted five times more data than free users, and the reset period for the usage limit is shorter (5 hours). Still, some heavy users wanted even more.

So now Anthropic has started offering a Max plan, which is a step above the Pro plan. The Max plan is available in two versions: $100 (approx. 14,600 yen) per month and $200 (approx. 29,300 yen) per month. The $100 plan has a usage limit five times that of the Pro plan, and the $200 plan has a usage limit 20 times that of the Pro plan.

In addition to the Pro plan's project features, access to a wide range of models, and extended thinking features for solving complex problems, the Max plan also offers early access to cutting-edge features, as well as priority access during peak traffic times.

Anthropic explains that if you are someone who 'needs long conversations to improve the quality of your work and get it done,' 'deals with large amounts of documents and complex data,' 'can't wait for the current usage limit to be lifted,' or 'uses Claude for a variety of tasks throughout the day,' then you're a good candidate for the Max plan.

According to Scott White, product lead at Anthropic, Claude's Max plan will also include access to the upcoming 'Claude Voice Mode.'

'I'm excited that people who find Claude essential will no longer be held back by fee restrictions and will be able to expand how Claude is used to solve as many problems as possible,' White told CNBC.
