While looking at the list of the Yamato series, the participants talked about their first encounters with the series. Hikawa was the one who first encountered it. When the first series was aired, Hikawa was a high school student and thought, 'There must be a reason why anime is so great,' so he visited the production studio in Sakuradai, Nerima Ward and decided to create a fan club. At the time, there were no anime magazines and anime was called 'TV manga,' but Hikawa said that Yamato was a newer work than the anime and special effects programs that were airing at the same time.
After the boom occurred among Hikawa's generation, Fukui first encountered Yamato when the first film was broadcast on TV around the time Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato was released. As an adult, he felt that the story of the Earth being destroyed and resurrected in just two hours was 'a style of storytelling that could only be told in anime.' It was so amazing that an aunt who watched it with him at the time asked, 'Is it going to finish today?'
Meanwhile, Keiko Han played the heroine Sasha in the 1980 film 'Yamato Forever,' and her first appearance in the series was as a guest character in the TV anime 'Space Battleship Yamato 2.' At the time the first film was broadcast, she was still a student and a theater fan, so she only knew about the existence of 'Yamato.'
In the remake of Yamato Forever and the TV anime Space Battleship Yamato III, Megumi Han plays the role of Sasha in Yamato Forever REBEL3199. Regarding the role being played by two generations of father and daughter, Fukui explained, 'There was no reason not to ask.' On the other hand, Megumi Han has often co-starred with her mother, but she rarely takes over a role, and revealed that she was worried, 'Will I be able to board this ship?'
Keiko-san will be playing the role of Mother Desarium in 'Yamato Forever REBEL3199', but according to Fukui-san, it's 'for the last line of the final episode'. Although it's still a long way off, he asked people to look forward to it.
