On March 5, 2025 local time, a problem with Bluetooth audio cutting out on the iPhone 16e was reported on Apple's official support forum. The person who reported it wrote, 'Is anyone else having trouble with Bluetooth audio cutting out? I just upgraded from an iPhone 13 mini to an iPhone 16e, and audio keeps cutting out on any Bluetooth device. The sound stops for a second and then starts again. I did a factory reset without an iCloud backup to see if that would fix the problem, but the problem still persists. I don't know if this is just a problem specific to early buyers or a bug in iOS 18. I'm stuck with this!'

Bluetooth audio stuttering issues on my i… - Apple Community

A user on Reddit who was experiencing the same problem posted, 'I bought an iPhone 16e two days ago and I seem to be having issues with Bluetooth audio cutting out. The issue is short-lived and the audio will stop and then start again immediately. About 1-3 times per song. I've tested it with AirPods and Sony headphones and the issue occurs with both. I've tried it with my old phone and it doesn't work. I went to the store and they replaced it with no questions asked. However, the new one is still stuttering. I don't know if this is an issue with the iPhone 16e or iOS. I'd like to know if anyone else is having the same issue and if I should just get a full refund for my iPhone 16e.'

X (formerly Twitter) also reported an issue with Bluetooth audio stuttering on the iPhone 16e, with a user stating, 'I recently purchased an iPhone 16e and paired my Beats Flex via Bluetooth, but now the audio is cutting out. The problem was with my FitBit Inspire HR . To fix the issue I had to completely disconnect from FitBit. I've already notified Apple of the bug, so hopefully they'll fix it. This may happen with other apps as well.'

The issue is said to be caused by connecting multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time. One user who experienced audio stuttering reported that 'closing the Oura app and preventing the Oura Ring (a Bluetooth-connected smart ring) from running in the background stopped the audio stuttering. It seems that the issue is caused by multiple devices connected via Bluetooth at the same time.'

It should be noted that the audio stuttering bug will not be resolved even if the iPhone 16e is updated to iOS 18.3.2, which was just released on March 12, 2025. However, since the problem has already been reported to Apple, the audio stuttering problem may be fixed in iOS 18.4, which is scheduled to be released in April.
