Our new Illegal or Restricted Products and Services Policy , which goes into effect on March 19, 2025, will mean that we will not tolerate any practices that drive viewers to gambling sites or apps that are not approved by Google.
Specific examples of prohibited inducements include visual indications, including URLs, graphic or text links, service logos, and verbal mentions.
YouTube also stressed that even if an online gambling site or app is approved by Google, it is important to note that content that promises guaranteed profits, such as videos advertising 'Play and you'll definitely win,' may be removed.

In addition, content that depicts or promotes online casinos or apps will be age-restricted, even if it does not violate our community guidelines.
This means that users who are not logged into YouTube or who are under the age of 18 will no longer be able to watch content related to online gambling, with some exceptions such as scenes depicting in-person gambling.
YouTube said, 'While this update may impact creators who focus on online gambling content, like casino games and apps, we believe these changes are an essential step to protect our community, especially younger audiences. We are committed to supporting creators while ensuring YouTube is a safe and responsible platform for everyone.'
YouTube has long taken a strict stance on gambling, and in 2021 it banned gambling from being promoted in the masthead, the most visible ad space.

In his annual letter published on February 11, 2025, YouTube CEO Neil Mohan said that the company will begin testing a feature that uses machine learning to predict users' ages and provide them with age-appropriate content, with plans to implement it within the year. This suggests that YouTube's efforts to protect children from gambling will continue to grow.
