The trailer, released on director Zilbalodis' official YouTube channel, is below. The setting of this work is a world hit by a great flood. The story is about a cat and his friends who are on a drifting boat and go on an adventure while facing unimaginable events and unexpected crises.

The most distinctive feature of this work is that it was made entirely using the open source 3DCG software Blender . Fewer than 50 staff members worked on it, and the production budget was only about 3.5 million euros (about 547 million yen), making it an extremely small-scale production compared to major works.

When 'Flow' won the Golden Globe Award, news site The Variety commented that 'The Golden Globe Awards show how tolerant they are of independent and international works compared to other Hollywood film awards. As an example, they cited the unexpected but welcome appearance of Masaaki Yuasa's ' Inu-Oh ' and Dean Fleischer-Camp's ' Marcel: The Little Shell with a Shoe ' in 2023, and the surprise nomination of Makoto Shinkai's ' Sparrow's Door Lock ' in 2024.

This is the first Oscar win for director Gints Zilbalodis's home country, Latvia. Following the Golden Globe Awards, perhaps the Academy Awards have also become more tolerant of the world.

The movie 'Flow' is scheduled to be released in Japan on Friday, March 14, 2025.

By the way, we interviewed director Gints Zilbalodis to coincide with the release of his first feature film, 'Away,' and we talked a little about 'Flow.'
