According to a memo from investment firm GF Securities obtained exclusively by MacRumors, which reports on Apple-related news, Apple supply chain analyst Jeff Pugh said that all models in the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, will support wired charging up to 35W.
In 2024, Chargerlab , a company that reviews chargers and batteries, revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro is capable of fast charging at up to 30W . It has also recorded peak charging at 37W, but the average charging speed is around 30W.
Below is a graph summarizing the average power when charging an iPhone 16 Pro Max with chargers of various outputs. Even when using a charger with an output of over 30W, the average charging speed is about 30W. A review of PhoneArena also points out that although the iPhone 16's peak charging speed is recorded at 38W, the average charging speed is lower than that.

All iPhone 16 models support the USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 protocol up to 45W, but that doesn't mean the devices are actually capable of 45W charging speeds.
Regarding the iPhone 17 series' 'wired charging at up to 35W' spec, MacRumors pointed out that 'since the iPhone 16 series also had peak charging speeds exceeding 35W, it seems unlikely that the iPhone 17 series will see a significant improvement in wired charging speeds.'
In addition, it has been pointed out that the iPhone 17 Air may use titanium instead of aluminum for the case. However, because titanium is heavier than aluminum, AppleInsider pointed out that it is 'puzzling' to use titanium in the ultra-thin and lightweight iPhone 17 Air.
