ControlAI commissioned market research company YouGov to conduct a survey on attitudes towards AI. The survey was conducted online over two days, from 16th to 17th January 2025, with a total of 2,344 British people participating.

The survey results are as follows. 74% of respondents answered 'Yes' to the question 'Do you think the UK AI Safety Institute should be given the authority to enforce AI safety standards?', and 71% answered 'Yes' to the question 'Do you think companies should be required to obtain a license from the government when developing powerful AI?'. In addition, 79% answered 'Yes' to the question 'Do you support the establishment of an AI regulatory agency?'

60% of people agreed with the question, 'Would you support a ban on the development of AI that is smarter than humans?' Furthermore, 63% agreed with the question, 'Would you support a ban on the development of AI that makes existing AI smarter?' and 82% agreed with the question, 'Would you support requiring technology companies to submit powerful AI to the UK AI Safety Laboratory for safety testing?'

Based on the survey results, ControlAI claims that 'British citizens are in favor of stronger regulation of AI' and is running a political campaign calling for stronger AI regulation.

Several members of Congress have already endorsed the ControlAI campaign. You can see the list of campaign endorsers at the following link:
