'Myojo Ippei-chan Night Shop Yakisoba Shortcake Flavor', a fusion of cup yakisoba and shortcake, is a mysterious high degree of perfection - GIGAZINE

This was sent to the GIGAZINE editorial department by Myojo Foods. The outer box is designed to resemble a cake container.

On the side it says 'Ippei-chan Night Market Yakisoba 30th Anniversary SINCE 1995'.

When I opened the box, there were two 'Myojo Ippei-chan Night Shop Yakisoba Shortcake Flavor' inside.

The package of 'Myojo Ippei-chan Night Shop Yakisoba Shortcake Flavor' looks like this.
The ingredients are as follows. The sauce is sugar and strawberry sauce, and the toppings are strawberry processed products and crepe flakes. The amount of noodles is 90g, which is slightly less than the usual amount of noodles

Calories per serving are 499kcal.

The packaging has been removed.

When you open the lid and take out the contents, you'll find powdered sauce, toppings, and strawberry sauce.

I was curious about the contents of the toppings, so I put them on a plate. The large red pieces are dried flaky diced strawberries, and the small pink flakes are

Pour in boiling water and wait 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, drain the water.

Then, sprinkle the powdered sauce on the noodles. The powdered sauce is actually creaming powder, and as soon as I opened the bag, I was hit with a sweet aroma reminiscent of shortcake cream and sponge cake.

I sprinkled the creaming powder on the noodles. At this stage, it's already quite a distance from the scene of making cup yakisoba.

However, when I stirred it well with chopsticks, the creaming powder dissolved and became entangled in the noodles, and was no longer visible. However, the sweet aroma of fresh cream still wafted through the air.

Next, add the strawberry sauce. The 2016 version had a vanilla-flavored mayonnaise sauce, but this time it's a red strawberry sauce. I wanted to pour it evenly over the noodles, but the amount of strawberry sauce was quite small, so it was quite difficult to pour it all over.

Finally, top it off with the toppings and it's done. It looks like a noodle dish, but the visual and sweet aroma of the diced strawberries on top, plus the white bowl, give you the illusion that this is really a shortcake.

Since I had the chance, I tried eating it with a fork, just like the cake. As I slurped up the noodles, the sweet aroma and rich, sweet taste of the shortcake cream, as well as the sweet and sour taste of the strawberries, spread throughout my mouth. The noodles were chewy and springy, and the texture and sweet and sour taste of the diced strawberries and feuilletines added a nice accent to the shortcake-like flavor. However, the yakisoba itself was naturally piping hot, and although it tasted like shortcake, the temperature felt was completely different. There was no saltiness or taste of yakisoba sauce, and the creamy sweetness typical of shortcake was clearly felt, so I got the impression that it was more of a warm dessert than a yakisoba.
