According to reports, OpenAI's agent software will be able to handle web-based tasks such as gathering public data about a set of companies, creating travel itineraries, and booking airline tickets. The new agent software being developed by OpenAI is called 'Agents' and will be able to perform more complex personal and work tasks 'without close supervision' in response to human commands.
Agents are designed to perform tasks on users' devices, such as transferring data between documents and automating expense reports, which is expected to significantly reduce manual work and increase productivity.
It has been pointed out that OpenAI started with the large-scale language model (LLM) GPT and is now moving on to developing agents. However, OpenAI still has an advantage over competitors such as Google and Meta, and once the agents are officially released, their dominance in the AI market may further increase.

While the idea of agents automating tasks on personal devices is great, it raises security and privacy concerns. OpenAI understands these concerns and is working to ensure users have permission to use its agents.
Connor Grennan, dean of students at New York University's Stern School of Business, points out that 'OpenAI's agents could potentially transform our digital workflows, making complex tasks easier to complete.'
