LinearMouse is a free and open source mouse and trackpad utility for Mac.

Both Windows and Mac use a mouse as the main input device, but people who normally use Windows are often surprised by the difference in operation when they use a Mac. The open source ' LinearMouse ' is a mouse utility for macOS that allows you to freely set the scroll direction and cursor speed, so it is recommended for people who are not used to the Mac operating system.

LinearMouse is distributed on the above site, and you can download the disk image by clicking 'Download'.

Click 'Allow'.

Double-click the downloaded 'LinearMouse.dmg' to mount it, then drag and drop LinearMouse.app into the Applications folder to install it.

Click 'Open'.

LinearMouse looks like this. You can set mouse scrolling in 'Scrolling'. Vertical is vertical scrolling, and Horizontal is horizontal scrolling, and each can be set separately. On macOS, scrolling the mouse forward moves the screen up, and scrolling backward moves the screen down. If you turn on the 'Reverse Scrolling' switch, the mouse scroll direction and the screen flow direction will be reversed, and it will be the same as the default setting in Windows.

In 'Pointer', you can disable 'Pointer Acceleration'. 'Pointer Acceleration' is a function that makes the pointer (cursor) move faster when you move the mouse or touchpad quickly. If you disable pointer acceleration, the pointer speed will remain constant no matter how fast you move the mouse or touchpad, allowing for more careful and precise operation.

In 'Buttons,' if you are using a mouse with side buttons on your Mac, you can enable back and forward operations using the side buttons.

In 'General,' you can have LinearMouse start automatically by turning on 'Auto-start at login.' Also, by turning on 'Bypass events from other applications,' you can prevent the settings of LinearMouse from being overwritten by the settings of third-party input device management tools such as

Logi Option+ .
